2022 has not been one of the great years for the Indian equity market yet. April itself saw some of the top subscription openings like Campus Activewear IPO, Veranda Learning IPO, Hariom Pipe Industries IPO, and others. What’s for May?

Furthermore, Campus Activewear IPO allotment status is also due in May. All these show that May brings no less when it comes to IPOs. Let’s learn the same in detail.

LIC IPO- With an issue size of over Rs 21,000 crores, LIC IPO is going to be India’s biggest ever IPO. Opened on May 04, the IPO received a decent overall subscription of around 2.94 times the issue before closing on May 09. The subscription has been the highest in the Policyholders’ category, followed by the Employees category, both of which have reservations and discounts for the subscribers. Although the geopolitical situation and recent interest rate hike by RBI may have created caution in investors’ minds, LIC IPO performed well in terms of subscription.

Prudent Corporate Advisory Services IPO- The IPO comes with an entire offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 538 crores. The OFS is issued by the promoter and PE investors, in which the price band is set at Rs 595 - Rs 630 per share. Prudent Corporate Advisory Services is one of the largest and fastest growing financial services/services distribution platforms and has a long standing relationship with mutual fund distributors. The three day subscription period which is going to open on May 10 and closes on May 12 is going to be a test for the IPO, thanks to the high volatility in the Indian equity market.

Venus Pipes & Tubes IPO- Opening on May 11, Venus Pine & Tubes IPO stands next to LIC IPO in terms of anticipation by investors. It has raised an issue size of Rs 165.42 crore On the first day of the subscription itself, the IPO received a subscription of 1.64 times the issue, in which the leader was retail investors with around 3 times subscription. The company has a diversified customer base and international accreditations as well. Like Prudent Corporate IPO, Venus Pipes IPO also has a subscription window of three days before it closes on May 13.

Delhivery IPO- One of the largest logistics companies in India, Delhivery is ready to hit the stock market soon. With a decent issue size of Rs 5235 crores, the IPO stands next to the LIC IPO in May. Also, like LIC, Delhivery is also offering a discount of Rs 25 per share to its employees. The IPO opens on May 11 and will give investors three days for subscription before closing on May 13

Paradeep Phosphates IPO- Paradeep Phosphates IPO will have a fresh issue size of Rs 1225 crores and an OFS of Rs 12 cores by the existing shareholders. The company is a joint venture between the Indian Government and Zuari Maroc Phosphates Private (ZMPPL), in which the former holds around a 19.55% stake. The IPO is likely to open on May 17 and close after three days on May 19

Ethos Limited IPO- Luxury watch retailer Ethos is also planning to land on the Indian stock market in May 2022. With an issue size of Rs 472 crores, the Ethos IPO subscription will begin on May 18 and end on May 20. The IPO has a fixed price band of Rs 836 - Rs 878 a share. The company will use the capital raised from the IPO for debt repayment, expanding the existing network by adding more stores, funding working capital requirements, and standard corporate purposes.

It can be seen that some of the most anticipated IPOs are hitting the market in May. The fate of these IPOs will however depend on the market sentiments and whether the investors will be able to overcome the global and domestic cues hovering over the Indian stock market.
